Books

I have taken part in another Collect Connect project: Freed Book, organised by Alban Low. Fifty artists and authors have been involved to produce a book of one page ‘stories’. On Saturday 24th November 2012 the book will be ‘released’ across London in Book Swap libraries. This is part of ‘Books for London’ week and aims to promote book sharing and swapping. My page is of an image which combines the inscription found in the front of an antiquarian book with a picture of a moth. This is from a series I am currently working on called ‘Lost Books and Forgotten Stories’.

Books are very important to me both as an artist and as an individual. In recent years I have been using antiquarian book covers, end papers and pages in my artwork as well as making my own simple books. I have a number of lovely natural history books which I dip into now and again to help me identify things I come across on my walks and for the sheer pleasure of looking at their illustrations.

The images on this page show some of my King Penguin Books, a Collins Pocket Guide, Observer Books, as well as the Freed Book.
