Japanese Stab-stitch Bound Books

I use simple and yet effective techniques to make a range of books and booklets which often incorporate my illustrations. One of my favourites is the ancient craft of Japanese Stab-stitch binding. There are numerous variations that are achievable from this method. While I often use the most basic of stab-stitching styles, I do also enjoy experimenting with more complex stitching which can be very attractive, especially when done with unusual threads and ribbons. (The images on this page show examples of Japanese Stab-stitch Bound books made by myself and by my students).
