Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition
10th June- 18th August 2013. Open daily, 10am- 6pm and 10am- 10pm on Fridays. At the Royal Academy of Arts, Burlington House, Piccadilly in London.
I was delighted to have both the pictures, that I entered into this exhibition, short-listed and thrilled to have one of them hung in the exhibition. My successful submission is a picture called ‘Red Underwing Moth (Catocala nupta)’. It is hanging in the Lecture Rooms which was curated by Michael Rooney R.A.
The Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition, which is now in its 245th year, is the largest open-submission exhibition in the World and attracts almost 200,000 visitors each year. The exhibits are selected by a panel of celebrated artists, this year co-ordinated by Norman Ackroyd R.A. and Eva Jiricna C.B.E. Out of almost 12,000 entries aproximately 1200 are exhibited. About 100 of these are by entrants like myself who have never exhibited there previously. It is really exciting to think that my work is hung in such a prestigious gallery alongside that of high profile artists such as David Nash O.B.E, Grayson Perry R.A. and Richard Long C.B.E.
